What we were making/doing:

Today we were drawing on our art club t-shirts and designing our own canvas bags to hold our new sketch books. We were chatting about artists who use text to make art and say something funny, or serious, both or just an opinion or idea. We then went ahead and tried out some text art of our own! We all thought of the funniest things we could think of and some of us wrote that on our t-shirts too. We had a look at some artists sketcbooks and talked about how we can use our sketchbooks however and whenever we want. We chatted a lot about what things we thought were really funny things to say and how we could make that into art. In our sketchbooks or on our bags we also had a go at drawing the art club guy and we all did really well too!

Artists we were looking at:
Bob and Roberta Smith
John Baldessari
Ian Stevenson
David Shrigley
Laurence Weiner

What we learnt:
Each others names!
Art can be funny
A lot of artists use text to make art
Artists try and make us think using their art

Some things we had to say about art this week:
'you just get ideas of art then do it!'
'artists use words in art to make describe it better'
'I like this art, it's fun'
'the funniest thing ever is putting a carrot on your nose'

Thanks to all our little artists, see you next week for more fun!
